Vortex Diamondback® 4-12x40 SFP BDC MOA - Versatile Hunting Riflescope

Overview

The Vortex Diamondback® 4-12x40 SFP BDC MOA riflescope stands out as a versatile hunting optic, designed to accompany hunters from small game to big game. Thanks to its Dead-Hold® BDC reticle and variable 4-12x magnification, it offers intuitive trajectory correction suited to shots between approximately 50 and 300 meters, according to user feedback. Its rugged aircraft-grade aluminum construction and argon purging make it a reliable companion for all terrain conditions, including the Swiss mountains.

Technical Specifications

• 4-12x magnification, 40 mm objective: versatile range suited to both close-range drives and long-distance stalking.
• Dead-Hold® BDC MOA reticle (second focal plane - SFP): calibrated hold-over marks for quick trajectory correction, without complex calculations in the field.
• 89 mm eye relief: comfortable eye positioning, reducing the risk of contact with the eyepiece under recoil.
• 1/4 MOA click graduation, capped turrets: precise adjustments, protected against accidental changes in hunting conditions.
• 1-inch (25.4 mm) aircraft-grade aluminum tube: one-piece structure resistant to shocks and intensive use.
• Argon purging: guaranteed waterproofing and fog protection, even in cold and humid weather typical of the Swiss Alps.
• Multi-coated lenses: optimized light transmission for a clear image at dawn and dusk.

Advantages

• An intuitive reticle that simplifies trajectory correction, even for less experienced hunters.
• Recognized versatility: suited to big game, predator/pest control, muzzleloader rifles, and long-range shooting.
• Excellent value for money praised by several independent tests, with performance comparable to more expensive optics.
• Crisp, audible click turrets, easy to operate even with gloves in winter.
• Reliable waterproof and fogproof construction, regardless of Swiss weather conditions.

Use and Maintenance

This scope is particularly suited to shots between 50 and 300 meters, a classic use in driven hunts or stalking. Since the parallax is fixed at 100 yards (approximately 91 meters), optimal precision is around this distance; this should be taken into account for shots at very different distances. Clean the lenses with a soft microfiber cloth and avoid abrasive products. Thanks to its argon purging and waterproofing, the scope can be used in rain or snow without risk of internal fogging. Store it protected from impacts during transport.
