Tops

Field tops: shirts, tee-shirts and mid layers. The department is shaped by Mantle, with the Mod 1 and Mod 2 shirts, cut for work rather than leisure. The difference shows in the details: reinforced panels at the elbows, pockets you can still reach with a vest over the top, a cut that lets the arm rise without the garment riding up. Sizes follow the manufacturer's chart, and long cuts are listed where they exist. A mid layer is chosen for what goes over it: a thick shirt under a softshell is too warm on the move and not warm enough at a halt. Jackets have their own sub-category.
