Orientation & Navigation

Finding your way without depending on a battery. The department covers compasses, including luminous military models graduated in 6400 mils and in 360 degrees, plus map plotting accessories. The choice of graduation is not a detail: mils are the unit of Swiss maps and military orders, degrees the unit of civilian hiking, and mixing the two makes you miss a bearing. A luminous compass charges in daylight and then reads for several hours in the dark. This equipment stays useful even when navigating by GPS, because it never runs out of battery and never loses signal under cover.
