Overview

The BLEEDING KIT Intermediate red from North American Rescue (NAR) is a bleeding control kit designed to allow any responder - individual, employer, security team or first responder - to act immediately in the face of a potentially life-threatening hemorrhage. This Intermediate configuration includes all the equipment of the Basic kit and adds the ability to treat penetrating chest wounds with the HyFin® Vent Compact Chest Seal Twin Pack, which covers entry and exit wounds. Compact and presented in a clearly identifiable red nylon bag with a PVC “Bleeding Control” patch, this kit is at home in a vehicle, workshop, school, office or any public space.

Technical Specifications

• C-A-T® Tourniquet (Combat Application Tourniquet): NAR's benchmark tourniquet, described by the manufacturer as the most effective, easiest to use and fastest to apply - a decisive asset in the event of arterial hemorrhage from a limb.
• HyFin® Vent Compact Chest Seal Twin Pack: two vented occlusive chest seals to treat penetrating chest wounds (entry and exit), a feature specific to the Intermediate version.

Use and Maintenance

Store the kit in an accessible location, known to everyone, at room temperature. Regularly check the expiration dates of sterile components (dressings, gauze, chest seals) and replace any used or expired items. We recommend taking a first-aid and bleeding control training course: applying a tourniquet, although facilitated by the included instructions, is more effective with prior training. Use the marker provided to note the tourniquet application time and pass this information on to emergency services (in Switzerland: 144).
