Overview

The Carinthia Defence 4 sleeping bag in the Long version is a benchmark in 3-season sleeping systems for demanding conditions. Adopted by the Finnish army as the M05 sleeping bag, it is designed for intensive use in cold and humid environments, from alpine hiking to winter bivouacs. Its G-LOFT synthetic insulation, developed and produced in Austria, retains its thermal properties even when wet, where down reaches its limits.

Technical Specifications

• Double-layer G-LOFT insulation: 100% polyester hollow fibers with offset quilting, no cold spots, for even warmth and excellent compressibility.
• Thermoflect layer: thin aluminum layer that reflects body heat and improves heat retention capacity by about 11%.
• Temperatures tested according to ISO 23537 / EN 13537: comfort -8.8 °C, limit of comfort -15 °C, extreme -35 °C.
• Shellproof outer shell: lightweight and robust ripstop polyamide, windproof and waterproof, while remaining breathable.
• Shelltrans lining: soft ripstop polyamide that wicks moisture outward for dry nights.
• Long version dimensions (size L): length 230 cm, shoulder width 87 cm, foot width 60 cm, suitable for people up to approximately 2 m tall.
• Weight and pack size: 2000 g, compressed to 25 x 38 cm in the supplied compression sack.
• Bidirectional central zipper: anti-snag system, insulating thermal flap and velcro protective strip.
• Adjustable hood and trapezoidal foot section: drawcord-adjustable facial opening and extra room for the feet.

Use and Care

To preserve the performance of your Defence 4, store it uncompressed in a dry place, away from moisture. The bag is machine washable at low temperature with a mild detergent. Avoid the tumble dryer to prevent damage to the materials and the shell's treatment. Airing the bag out after each trip extends its lifespan and maintains the loft of the insulation.
